QoS in UMTS
Kavan, Radovan ; Hanus, Stanislav (referee) ; Kejík, Petr (advisor)
This thesis treats of QoS (Quality of Service) in UMTS system. The term quality of service is frequently used, recently, however not only in computer networks, but also more and more in mobile networks also. Present system of 2nd generation (2G) GSM enables only limited exploitation of QoS function. System UMTS is a system of 3rd generation (3G) already and contains quality of service in greater measure which is ensured with number of algorithms and functions. Individual QoS functions enable effective utilization of radio interface, support maintenance of planned coverage and offer high spectral efficiency. Functions that cater to quality of service are called RRM functions (Radio Resource Management). There exist five basic functions in UMTS system that are Admission control (AC), Power control (PC), Load control (LC), Handover control (HC) and Packet scheduler (PS). These functions are responsible for control of network access, control of power, control of network load, control of handover and packet (bit rate) scheduling. Last three functions are usually collectively designated as Congestion control, control of network overload. UMTS layer model, differentiation of services, traffic classes and 3GPP concept are also discussed. In thesis the attention is piad to Admission control algorithm – control of network access – in the uplink direction and to different ways of load (in the cell) modeling. Individual approaches are simulated in MATLAB. A possibility of using algorithm in the real system is discussed in conclusion.
Optimization of air conditioning in the office building
Hrbáček, Tomáš ; Uher, Pavel (referee) ; Blasinski, Petr (advisor)
The diploma thesis titled "Optimization of air conditioning in the office building" deals with the issue of heat load. Its understanding and correct determination is the primary step towards the correct design of air conditioning systems. The work is divided into three parts. The first part of the work, the theoretical part, serves to bring closer the theory of heat gains and heat load. Specifically, it is the external part of the thermal load, its division, description and calculation procedure of the individual parts. The second part of the work, the calculation part, focuses on the application of theoretical knowledge to a specific building. Specifically, on the proposal of two alternative solutions for the current state of the air-conditioning equipment in the 3rd floor of the administrative building serving the meeting ro-om. These are more economical variants, which, compared to the original design, carry with them certain limitations in the form of reduced comfort of use. The object for which alternative proposals were prepared is an administrative building in the town of Náchod in the Hradec Králové region. It is a four-story building with a flat single-skin roof. Inside the building, there are mainly office, communication and hygiene spaces. The third part of the thesis deals with the application and partial automation of the thermal load calculation procedure from the theoretical part and examines the influence of the glazing area of facades on the solar gains of various buildings. It describes the method of calculation, the data obtained and finally summarizes and evaluates the results. Excel software and the VBA programming language, whose development environment (IDE) is integrated in Excel, were used for the calculations.
Assessment Centre as an alternative method of employees selection
Lipenská, Kateřina ; Šnýdrová, Ivana (advisor) ; Mužík, Jaroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with Assessment Centre method as a possible alternative of employees selection and from this perspective, the thesis is focused not only on introduction of the method AC itself, but also on employees selection process in general, as a part of human resource management in current situation. Therefore the thesis also considers different aspects, such as internal conditions of particular company and situation in the labour market, both influencing the choice of the Assessment Centre method. The main topic of the thesis is the introduction of psycho diagnostic tools focused on a group or an individual. It emphasizes also the importance of selection criteria during the preparatory phase of the Assessment Centre and the definition of general rules of realization phase of the AC. Within the context of the whole selection process possible outputs of the AC and roles played during the AC are also taken into consideration. These issues are main principals of this method and their professional implementation contributes to good employee's selection. Added value of this thesis lies mainly in using up-to-date perspective. Based on survey results the thesis describes conditions and forms of the AC application. Presenting advantages and disadvantages of the Assessment Centre, some...
Assessment centre - validity, possibility and risks in the usage the company's procedure method
Doubková, Dagmar ; Bahbouh, Radvan (referee) ; Kirovová, Iva (referee)
My rigorous thesis is focused on the issue of Assessment Centre method (AC), its validity, contribution and objectivity, ethical rules and difficulties. The selection of competences studied by this method is discussed here as well. Strong and weak sides of the method are described by the SWOT analysis and possible opportunities and threats are pointed out in the work. The structure and the implementation of the AC method as well as its opportunities and real use in practice are described in the theoretical part of the work. This part of the work is also focused on the particular methods used within the AC methods. The differences between the Assessment Centres and Development Centres are brought up here. The AC method is compared with the other procedures which are used for the selection and development of employees. Opportunities and limitations of the validity of the measurement are discussed in this part of the work. The practical part of the work is devoted to the comparison of the AC method with other methods of selection and evaluation concerning the contribution and objectivity. The data analyzed in this comparison have been collected from the interviews with 27 HR managers and specialists. Four files describing the AC method from the point of view of the weak and strong sides are based on...
